|Juan Griego (Fishing Town) - Isla Margarita - Venezuela "visited Juan Griego a couple times... nice town... good restaurants lots of European tourists." "JR -- yes, still have a few Euros around; but things have changed quite a bit ...still the remnants of good restaurants left; but not the same proprietors nor chefs, for the most part. The fish and seafood are still very fresh thought ...and the alcohol is VERY cheap!!" "not sure its the same... margarita was taxfree when I was there... a 750 ml bottle of Gordon's Gin was $1.88 US! And a Polar beer at a bar roughly $0.28!" "Still duty free and prices about 2x that, but still very cheap ...though some things are in short supply from time to time ...the socialist run infrastructure makes it difficult to maintain the flow of goods ...and with tourism non-existent, the flow of outside capital is very limited." "oh... yes that was the net result of the Chavez regime!"|
|Redneck Sushi "get some fried hominy on the side and I'll show up for dinnner!!!!!" "hey its a complete meal... you gotcha Spam... for protien, Rice for starch, and seaweed for you veggie! I love hominy but no need" "lol... my dad makes a great fried hominy and spam and eggs breakfast... always had that together... ah well seaweed it is... I like that too.. ;-)" "hominy and sausage was a staple breakfast here too.. we never had spam, but lots of homemade sausage from the hogs" "Dad started the spam thing on camping trips... it was his specialty to cook for breakfast (to give mom a break) and now the kids and I all love it!!! He and Ma have to watch their cholesterol and such now he doesnt get to make it anymore.. but I learned how.. so the kids ask for it here from time to time." "go for the Spam Lite !! half the fat and cholesterol! Reduced sodium but still rather high." "Oh goodness I love spam! Fried spam and eggs with grits on the side.....Mmmmmm mmmmm!" "Jean, you and Lisa think alike!" "mmm ... thinking shrimp and grits for supper!" "And now Im wanting fried spam for breakfast...lol" "lol... Jean.... Im gonna go get some spam next grocery trip... had me shrimp last night boiled in creole seasoning.... yum!" "Im adding it to the next shopping trip also! Lol" "great minds think alike.... whoot whoot!!!! LOL" "tip: you use one of those can openers that cuts around the outside of the spam tin. take out the spam. make your seasoned sushi rice and pat it out on a cutting board 1/2 inch thick. Use the spam tin to cut the rice and place a lightly fried slice on spam on top and wrap with nori." "JR you are the bomb...lol" "lol.. if I could get my rice to stick together ...." "Im guessing you need a special sticky rice...lol" "probably.... hmm ...... a rice steamer would probably do the trick... ya think? not that I have one.. I'll have to experiment w/ what I got...." "just look up sushi rice online... best with a Japanese rice like Kokuho Rose (ironically grown in California). You can buy sushi seasoned vinegar in most major groceries. Follow the directions on the lable" "hmm cool, I'll have to give that a go..."|

I will be glad to accompany you and, if Karen and, Mona needs, administer my mouth to mouth skills and, practice on chest compressions. Will you and Shuggy mak the top or, will you get lost in one of the wee glens up there. Once up top, you can always thread the needle, a wee hole in the rock to reach the real summit.
