Just returned to England last year for a family reunion and had a blast! I am currently tracing my family tree from Renfrew. My lines are Dunlop and MacCrimmon, McBurnie and Gray, with lots more in between. Orginally my last name was MacTaggart but when Scotland started to starve we moved out of Scotland and went to the upper part Tyrone of Ireland to stay and had to change our name from MacTaggart to McTaggart to live there. Born and living in Victoria, BC Canada, my dad's grandfather's brother was Lord Torphichen of Sandilands. Contrary to many statements on Internet, Sandilands is a Sept of the Douglas Clan and not a clan of its own. The Sandilands family seat is Calder House in Mid-Calder. I visited Scotland for a mere four days in 2002 and hope to return one day ... to be continued one day if I ever retire!! |
