Alexander McCoy and Katherine Sutherland came on the same ship. Alexander joined the Continental Army in 1776 and was taken prisoner at the Battle of Ticonderoga, after receiving a saber wound. He was a prisoner of war and remained in Halifax, Nova Scotia until a prisoner exchange at the end of the war. He returned to Philadelphia and married Katherine.
