    I was born in Auchinairn now know as Bishopbriggs, I left Scotland many years ago and moved to the USA. I was home in 2005 and 2008 to visit my family. Scotland will always be my home and i will always miss that beautiful country.. I am so glad that i found Scotster!!

    MY earliest Scots relatives came to Philadelphia in 1772, from Sutherland, Scotland. Alexander McCoy and Katherine Sutherland came on the same ship. Alexander joined the Continental Army in 1776 and was taken prisoner at the Battle of Ticonderoga, after receiving a saber wound. He was a prisoner of war and remained in Halifax, Nova Scotia until a prisoner exchange at the end of the war. He returned to Philadelphia and married Katherine.
