Raiding Scotland By The Viking's Pathway
Postings on this topic in our 'Travel & Holidays: Travelling By Sea' chat forum
Anyone know of the names and addresses of any current passenger ship lines travelling between Scandinavia and Scotland (preferably to Edinburgh)? Since my Wife is of Swedish ancestry, we are thinking it would really be neat to take the same route of her Viking ancestors, when we travel from Scandinavia to Scotland this May. We don't intend to rape and pillage, I just want to show her the homeland of my ancestors!
Andy:
Thanks for the contact. I checked them out, and they apparently only basically have multiple night cruises for people who want to visit all of the Scandinavian countries. They do have one to Cork and the British Isles (also for multiple nights), but nothing of interest for us (no straight trips to Scotland) this time around. We appreciate your thoughtfulness in responding so quickly!

There used to be a route from Newcastle to Norway but not sure if it's still going or where it docks in Norway.
This link offers Scandanavia - Shetland Isles & you would have to link from there !!

Thanks for the tip: have been to their site, and will continue to get details from them!
Looks like it might be a source for our trip.
Many thanks.

Wow - what a site! Having trouble finding details, because I don't speak any Scandinavian languages (place names are not familiar to us yet).
Thanks for the link!
