    Ok, I'll start.. I've got three pencil-thick bands around my left wrist, a 3-4 inch wide car tyre imprint around my right ankle, a web address in 15th Century script across my shoulders, and a full-colour full-size map of Zone 1 of the London Underground on my back.

    What have you had done and which ones are you most proud of? What are the stories behind them?

    I have a tattoo on my left shoulder that memorializes "The Worcester 6" who were 6 firefighters in Worcester, Massachusetts, that died in a fire on Dec. 3, 1999. They were searching for possible trapped homeless victims in a cold storage building before getting disoriented in the maze-like structure. Come to find out, the homeless couple fled before the fire department arrived, and were found at a local shopping centre.

    I also have a MacFarlane Clan crest and a rampant lion on my right arm.

    Planning on getting a 9/11 memorial tattoo on my left arm, and continuing my right arm as a Scottish sleeve.

    I don't have any. I am thinking about it though. I want to do it before my 40th birthday. My ideas so far are wings on my back from shoulders to lower back, or a celtic heart knot.

    I heard some inks have metal in them. Is this true? I need to know since I cannot wear metal jewelry since I am allergic to metals.

    I saw a show on cable about tattoos. Some guy has invented Glow in the Dark/Blacklight ink for tattoos! He demonstrated it by outlining a star someone had in traditional ink and then put the blacklight on it. IT REALLY GLOWED! It was fantastic!

    I would think yes, personally I think tattoos and body piercing go hand in hand. Heck, most tat shops have piercing stations anyways... LOL

    I think tattoos are addictive LOL

    I remember after my first one leaving with the "how to look after your new work of art" leafet. In bold at the bottom it said " We look forward to tattooing you again". How true this was, been nine times now, and still want more.

    A tribal dragon on my back, another dragon on my right leg, a SheelaNaGig on my left ankle, a small Canadian flag on my left (lower!) cheek. I've a design ready to go for my next venture, the face of my beloved dog, Hendrix. The artist who did my first ones is no longer in the city, and his boss did such a crap job on my next one, I won't go back. Still looking for the perfect combination of great artist and clean studio - unlike in the UK where there are licenses and inspections, here in North America, youse pays yur money and takes yur chances.
    BTW, I agree with David - they are completely addictive. My first were a 40th birthday present to myself, three since and more in the works. :-)

    I've also heard about the glow in the dark ink, but have yet to see it. As far as metal being in the ink, I'm not too sure, seeing that I'm new to tattoos. But I do know that some people have reactions to cheaper ink. I have a friend that is an apprentice, and she borrowed someone's red. I guess two or three people had an inflamation from the cheaper ink. Luckily I got my other tattoo a day before she borrowed the other artist's ink, seeing that my Worcester 6 tattoo has red in it!! LOL

    Ruthann, proper tattoos are done with Indian Ink which is 100%natural (its made by...boiling down the wing cases of shiny black beetles!).
    A good tattooist will know all about their ink and skin reactions, so shop around til u find an expert!
    Mine were done by "my mate Keith", who made his own equipment and knew all about the subject - bit of a cleverclogs on the sly!
    Take your time to pick grrreat designs!

    Mine are mostly historical!
    Some i designed from scratch, others i found in history books and altered a little...just personalising them!
    Left arm=
    black lion rampant on theshoulder;
    Pictish crescent-V filled in with interlace and a square spiral;
    ancient British triskele (3 larmed spiral) set in a diamond shape;
    Right arm=
    triskele based on the Bann disc, in a circle, on shoulder;
    tribal/celtic style wolf;
    iron age peltas (curly stuff!) linking these two;
    Chest=artistic /tribal grim reaper;
    Back=pelta-headed triskele between shoulders;
    cup-and-ring/spiral design at waist;
    Hip=Art Nouveau Glasgow style-Ms Gilmours' knife with a Glasgow rose on it.
    Yep, they ARE addictive! Get one, next u need another to "balance" them.... Some are glimpse-able on my photos!

    My first tat was a birthday from my son; the Claddagh seen in the picture. I got it for my 47th birthday. I just got two new ones in the same way. They are just a few days old.

    I've decided to go with at least a half sleeve on my lower right arm; maybe in a very wide wrist band fashion from wrist to elbow. The theme on the right arm is Celtic.

    I also have a wrist band dedicated to my muse; the Grand Tetons

    Addictive? Oh yes!

    As it is said that Brodie descends from the Picts, it is only appropriate to have a tatoo. I got my first tattoo when I was fourteen. My name Bob was pricked into my skin using a needle wrapped with thread and soaked in india ink. Did not feel good. It was another 31 one years before I thought about body art again. I don't have anthing celtic yet. I want to have my Clan Belt/Buckle Badge put on my upper left arm. The upper right arm is taken aready. Other than my name, the other 6 tattoos are all Chinese Charachters: Friend, Harmony, Music, Love, Way, and Effortess Action. They tie into my philosophies of life. The photo here is of the charachter Wu Wei, Efforless Action. This is a central tenet to Taoism.

    Ive got 4 tattoo's

    the OM symbol in black as well
    Celtic style tree of life (feminine version) in black
    and a cross with a heart in the middle of it and a yellow rose behind the cross, all in color...Im thinking about getting it covered with a celtic cross and maybe a tribal style design behind it...I havent decided yet....
    I have another one in mind that I would like to get on my back...but havent decided yet if that is the one I want in that spot....

    Veronica- It would appeal to my sense of humour to get a tattoo against type, just to mess with their heads :-)

    I have got a DEVIL with "Be a devil" written underneath, and an ANGEL on my right with "Be an angel" writen underneath. This represents my conscience, because sometimes i am a devil and sometimes I'm an angel. I also have a lizard crawling up my right buttock, for no reason other than i lfancied it. But, I am thinking of getting another tattoo, but not sure what to get or where to put it. I don't want a big tattoo, but I want something that says something about me and means something.

    Lorraine - have you thought about maybe 2 coy fish chasing eachother like in a circular pattern, 1 coy a color of choice, and the other a color of another choice...that sounds pretty cool...like a Yin and Yang, but with coy's....If I knew you a little better...Im sure I could think of more... :)
