I can imagine that song starting up, everyone's faces as they realized what it was, and then all getting a good laugh and joining in with a wee merry jig as I go downstairs. I think it would sum up my wicked sense of humour and leave everyone happy that I had a good life rather than all sitting greetin'.What UNUSUAL song would you have?
id havehe "dream the impossible dream" by andy williams,or goin underground by the jam, lol.
Going Underground. haha. Good one.
I'm not having one of those, but If I had to choose one it would be "Lord Lovets Lamont" One of my all time favorites!
I've always told my parents if I went first, there sure wasn't enough money in any of my accounts to bury me. Stick me in a garbage bag and put me next to where our dogs are buried. Dad could take his portable cd player and blast "Don't Fear the Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult. Of course, he only listens to country music, so I'd have to leave the cd where he would find it. His choice for me would probably be "Friends in Low Places" by Garth Brooks.
I might have AC/DC's Highway to Hell !
These songs may not be unusual choices but I want Queen's "The Show Must Go On" and Lonestar's "I'm Already There" to be played at my funeral.
I have attended two funerals recently where the final songs were unusual to say the least.
The first was a good friend and a stalwart of the Scottish Community in South Australia, and a former President of the Robert Burns Society. The final song at his funeral was 'Wish Me Luck as You Wave me Goodbye"
The second was a childhood friend with a penchant for The Goons and Monty Python, and his last song was "Always look on the bright Side of Life" from the sound track of life of Brian.
All these songs are REALLY different, unusual and funny. I don't really know which one I want, but my husband has made me promise to play at his funeral the song: "Spirit in the Sky" by By Norman Greenbaum.
I could be really unusual and have Queens "We are the Champions" but no one would get it. I'll have to think about it for a bit and get back with all of you.
Jenny
I think my choice would be Ted Christopher's "Follow the Wild Geese Home."
At the end of the day does your heart fly
To the lochs and the glens and the islands
Do you dream of the Clyde or a bonnie border town ...
Both my wife and I choose Billy Connolly`s version of Irish Heartbeat.
With the pipes and drums !
"We Are The Champions" by Queen, because just being born to live meant we won the sperm wars:)!
Another one bites the dust (Queen)
Slip Sliding Away (Simon and Garfunkel)
But more seriously:
On Eagles Wings (aka He will raise you up)
Highland Cathedral (thank you to the Germans who wrote it)
Loch Lomond
I want this played at my funeral. Take note all, just in case I mysteriously pop off without that being added to my final list of wishes ;)
Who Wants To Live Forever
by Queen !
At my mom's funeral last October we played "My Girl" and "Mustang Sally." Those were her life's theme songs.
Beethoven's 5th Concerto for Piano, the Emperor's Concerto.
Here Comes the Sun by Beatles
Black Bear on the pipes, cos afterall, I'll just be going back to barracks for a wee while.....
Pink floyds wish you were here and the lumberjack song i like that11
Pink floyds wish you were here and the lumberjack song i like that!!
Wow! What a wide range of choices, I'd agree with Always Look on the Bright Side but I'd also want Ha Ha You're Dead by Green Day, just to make people laugh, Holiday by Green Day cos it will be for me, and then Bridge over Troubled Water to make everyone cry.
My husband wants the theme music from Thunderbirds as the coffin goes into the flames - although he really wants me to sneak his body onto the boat of burning at Up Helly Aa!
I don't want any crying at my send off. I want happy people. In fact if they cry, i promise to come back and sort them out.
I like the idea of the Thunderbirds theme though. I would llove to have a Mardi Gras funeral like you see in the bond movie with all the jazz folk marching behind, (minus the silent killing) with a ticker tape parade and the whole place dancing. So, as Jason says, if I haven't already told everyone in my familly, then you lot see to my wishes wil you?<or I'll come back and spook you>Wooaahahahaha!
I just heard another song on the radio last night Pink Floyds comfortably numb.
What great images get conjured up imagining the thunderbirds theme playing, then I thought about the loony tunes overture!!
The Animals singing "Gotta Get out of this Place"
Apart from that all of Russell Watsons songs. But I think people would get a bit tired after 8 hours.
Then there is always Most People I Know Think That I'm Crazy by Billy Thorpe!!
