A group is being started which seeks to represent the heads of the many armigerous clans and families in Scotland who do not have a recognised Clan Chief and as such, are not an officially recognised Clan.
Member Clans fall into two Categories:-
1. Those Clans who have at one time had a Chief recognised by the Crown, Parliament or the Lord Lyon but no known descendants of the Chiefly line now exist, and as such the Clan no longer exists in law.
2. Those Clans which have never had a Chief recognised by the Lord Lyon and as such have never been officially recognised as a Clan.
The Council will have a website soon but in the meantime a facebook group has been set up which invites open discussion. Since the Buchanan clan is on the list of Armigerous Clans & Families you may want to get involved.
