San Antonio Highland Games and Celtic Festival

Our event features traditional Scottish Highland Games, Celtic food and merchandise vendors, music, Scottish and Irish dancing, clans, Celtic dogs, sheepherding, bagpipes, kids activities, living history demonstrations, and much, much more!!

Athletics - World-class athletes come from across the country to compete at our Games. Events include the caber toss, stone put, hammer throw, weight throw, weight over bar, and sheaf toss. Our athletes have even set world records at our event!

Clans - We have a clan village which features more than 30 unique Scottish clans. Guests can find out if they are indeed Scottish.

Music - In years past, we have featured NeedFire, Carl Peterson, The Dram Beauties, Sally's Garden, Boru, Comhlan Oganta Celtic Youth Band, The Triskellion Pirate Conspiracy, Gilmer and Moore, Beyond the Pale, Doc Grauzer, and others.

Dancing - We feature both Irish and Scottish dance groups including The Inishfree School of Irish Dance, the San Antonio Irish Dancers, The San Antonio Scottish Dancers, The Bluebonnet Scottish Country Dancers, and Celtic Menagerie

Animals - Our Parade of Scottish Dogs features our furry friends both large and small. If you have any of the following breeds and would like to participate in our parade, please contact Lea Buchanan at [address available to Members only]: Border Terrier, Cairn Terrier, Dandie Denmont Terrier, Scottish Terrier, Skye Terrier, West Highland Terrier, Bearded Collies, Border Collies, Rough Collies, Smooth Collies, Shetland Sheep Dogs, Golden Retriever, Gordon Setter, Scottish Deerhound.

Piping - Numerous pipe and drum bands perform at the Highland Games each year. We also have a solo piping competition.

Kid's Glen - Parents need not worry about keeping youngsters occupied at our event. We offer kids crafts, storytelling, games, and more for the wee bairns.

Living History - Iron Age Celts, Romans, and Vikings invade our grounds to display battle techniques, traditional dress, and folk arts.

Vendors - Want to buy a kilt? How about some Celtic knotwork earrings? Wanna try a Scotch Egg?? Our Game showcase a wide variety of Celtic food and merchandise vendors.

Sheepherding - See working dogs herd sheep at our sanctioned sheepherding trials. You'll be cheering along as you watch those great Border Collies split the herd and pass them through the gate.
